PSA readies Negros towns for 2027 CBMS

BACOLOD CITY — The Philippine Statistics Authority-Negros Occidental convened the 2027 Community-Based Monitoring System Municipal Coordinating Boards in Calatrava and Toboso on June 22 to prepare the local government units for the full implementation of the CBMS.
The activities aimed to discuss the roles and responsibilities of Municipal CBMS Coordinating Board members and strengthen the readiness of the two LGUs for the 2027 data collection.
In Calatrava, the activity was presided over by Carlos Lumanog, executive assistant to the mayor.
It was attended by 12 LGU personnel, including office heads, and three officials and personnel from the PSA.
In Toboso, the activity was attended by 13 LGU personnel, including office heads, and three officials and personnel from the PSA.
Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Jaime M. Bordomeo introduced and called the roll of the coordinating board in Toboso.
Bordomeo also delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of the meeting for the upcoming CBMS and expressing his gratitude to the PSA.
The presentations in both municipalities focused on the CBMS framework, including its legal bases, objectives, scope, coverage of implementation, and operationalization at the LGU level.
The discussions also covered possible data items for collection and the indicative date of data gathering.
The PSA also discussed the critical role of each office in ensuring systematic data collection, efficient logistical operations, and compliance with CBMS standards and PSA protocols.
Capacity-strengthening activities for LGUs, including upcoming training sessions, were also discussed.
In Calatrava, the briefing included map research activity and the 2026 Updating of the List of Aquaculture Farms.
In Toboso, the briefing also covered the statistical survey review and clearance system, along with map research activity and the 2026 Updating of the List of Aquaculture Farms.
The PSA said the convening reflects a collaborative effort between the agency and LGUs to strengthen local-level statistics.
The CBMS is intended to support community empowerment, crisis response, poverty alleviation, and social protection programs through better local data.
