BACOLOD CITY —The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Occidental partnered with the Division of Bacolod City to hold its first school activation of the year at Handumanan National High School on March 18, 2025.
The school activation is one of several agency initiatives to promote Republic Act 11055, also known as the Philippine Identification System or the National ID.
PSA Negros Occidental also invited neighboring schools—Handumanan Elementary School I and II—for a broader range of information dissemination.
Parents and Teachers Association members, school faculty and staff, Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers, and representatives from various school clubs gathered at the school’s audio-visual room to attend the informational presentation, while students from different levels and some staff joined the concurrent PhilSys Step 2 registration.
Richelieu S. Rojas, head teacher IV of Handumanan National High School, welcomed PSA Negros Occidental personnel in his opening remarks.
Aira Camille de la Banda, regular National ID provincial focal person, shared key details about the different formats and benefits of the National ID.
She highlighted that all formats—the National ID card, paper form, and digital version—are now recognized as valid proof of identity in public and private transactions.
She also discussed the salient features of the National ID and demonstrated how to access and download the digital version with ease.
Maria Cristina Armamento, registration officer II, was also present and facilitated the entire registration process to ensure it was orderly and efficient.
At the close of the event, Supervising Statistical Specialist Diesah S. Biaoco awarded certificates of appreciation to the three participating schools.
She concluded the program with a message of gratitude and expressed strong optimism for continued support from all schools in the Division of Bacolod City.
The PSA National ID Team will continue offering on-site services at the school until Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
Services include registration, tracking, ePhilID printing, and verification for interested students and staff.
PSA Negros Occidental anticipates more school activations in the coming months and sees this as the first of many successful initiatives for the year.
