BACOLOD CITY — The Philippine Statistics Authority–Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office, in partnership with the Department of Education Division of Bacolod City, officially launched the 36th National Statistics Month celebration today with its first-ever PSA-led motorcade across Bacolod City.
The PSA-led kick-off began at 9 a.m. from the PSA–Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office and culminated at Rizal Elementary School with a ribbon cutting and the unveiling of Statman, amplifying the NSM theme “Accelerating the SDG Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All” and underscoring the importance of multisectoral cooperation in statistical endeavors.
Active engagement from numerous provincial and local government bodies demonstrated broad support for data-driven governance, with a convoy that included personnel from the DepEd Divisions of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City and Local Civil Registry Offices representing nine cities and municipalities—Bacolod City, Victorias City, Silay City, Bago City, Sagay City, Kabankalan City, La Castellana, Himamaylan City, and Enrique B. Magalona.
The Negros Occidental Provincial Planning and Development Office, represented by Officer in Charge Anna Marie Lucasan and staff, joined representatives from the Bacolod City Planning and Development Office and the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Public safety and traffic flow along the route were ensured by the Bacolod City Police Office and the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department.
The event’s high-energy atmosphere was fueled by drumbeaters from Bacolod City National High School and Handumanan National High School, reflecting active youth participation in the statistical awareness campaign.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, the National Statistics Month is observed every October to promote the crucial role of statistics in national development, with this year’s theme emphasizing reliable, timely data as an accelerator for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through enhanced monitoring and evidence-based policy.
Through unified action among provincial line agencies, the PSA–Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen collaborative frameworks with stakeholders to promote statistical literacy and systematic data use for effective, sustainable community advancement across the province.
