The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office officially turned over the results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to the municipalities of the First and Second Districts of Iloilo Province in a ceremonial event held on September 22, 2025, at Smallville 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The data turnover covers the municipalities of Guimbal, Igbaras, Miagao, Oton, San Joaquin, Tigbauan, and Tubungan in the First District, and Alimodian, Leganes, Leon, New Lucena, Pavia, San Miguel, Santa Barbara, and Zarraga in the Second District.
Present during the ceremony were local chief executives, Sangguniang Bayan members, municipal administrators, municipal planning and development coordinators, data protection officers, and municipal statisticians, along with representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO).
In her message, PSA Regional Statistical Services Office VI Director Nelida C. Amolar emphasized the significance of CBMS as a cornerstone of evidence-based governance, noting that the system empowers local governments to craft responsive policies and programs that directly address community needs and that CBMS is institutionalized under Republic Act 11315.
The program was further graced by key officials and partners including Dr. Raul N. Banias, provincial administrator of Iloilo; Raymundo D. Palanog, LGOO VII/cluster head of the DILG; Engr. John Felix T. Torino, information technology officer I of the DICT; and Marlene Y. Alviar, chief statistical specialist of the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office VI.
PSA Iloilo Officer-in-Charge Jerry L. Dolutan presented the highlights of the CBMS results, which provide in-depth data aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and offer a detailed profile of local socioeconomic conditions for poverty reduction, evidence-based policymaking, and targeted program implementation.
As part of the ceremony, PSA officials and local chief executives signed the Data Turnover and Data Sharing Agreements, affirming their shared commitment to responsible data use, transparency, and collaborative local governance.
On behalf of all local government units, Tubungan Mayor Roquito G. Tacsagon delivered the acceptance message emphasizing the importance of CBMS in strengthening evidence-based decision-making and fostering inclusive development, while EnP. Sol Jane Capague, statistician III of the Iloilo PPDO, discussed provincial strategies for maximizing the CBMS data to inform responsive and equitable development programs.
This initiative highlights the PSA’s continued dedication to providing reliable and timely statistics to support effective public service delivery, with CBMS enabling local governments to design policies and programs that promote inclusive and sustainable development for the people of Iloilo.
