Leveraging digital technology to enhance data accuracy and efficiency, the Philippine Statistics Authority-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office successfully completed field operations for the National Demographic and Health Survey in the province, covering 384 sample households across 12 enumeration areas, with 32 samples collected in each enumeration area, across all municipalities of Guimaras.
In preparation for the survey implementation, PSA Guimaras conducted the second-level training from Sept. 29 to Oct. 10, 2025.
“The training equipped field personnel with comprehensive discussions on NDHS concepts, detailed questionnaire review, proper interviewing techniques, and standard field procedures,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
“Hands-on exercises, mock interviews, and tablet-based computer-assisted personal interviewing simulations were conducted to ensure the readiness of field staff for digital data collection,” she added.
The NDHS field operations were carried out from Oct. 13 to Nov. 29, 2025, using tablet-based computer-assisted personal interviewing technology, allowing real-time data capture and built-in validation checks to improve data quality.
Field personnel strictly observed PSA protocols on household listing, respondent selection, informed consent, confidentiality and quality control.
Respondents were assured that all information collected would remain confidential in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
Losare said the survey covered the following 12 enumeration areas: Piña, Agsanayan, Getulio and San Miguel in Buenavista; Cabano and San Enrique in San Lorenzo; Calaya and Dolores in Nueva Valencia; San Miguel and Morobuan in Jordan; and San Isidro and Sebaste in Sibunag.
The coverage of 384 samples, evenly distributed across the 12 enumeration areas, will allow the generation of statistically reliable and representative demographic and health data to support evidence-based development planning, monitoring and policy formulation at the local and national levels.
To ensure compliance with survey standards, field supervision was conducted in all enumeration areas.
Supervisors closely monitored digital data collection activities and promptly addressed operational challenges such as weather conditions, accessibility issues and difficulties in locating selected households, contributing to the timely completion of survey operations.
“Overall, the NDHS operations in Guimaras were completed in accordance with PSA standards, demonstrating the agency’s continued commitment to modern, efficient, and high-quality statistical data collection,” Losare said.
“The PSA Guimaras extends its sincere appreciation to the local government units, barangay officials, and participating households for their cooperation and support in the successful conduct of the survey,” she added.
