PSA Guimaras steps up National ID authentication drive

GUIMARAS — The Philippine Statistics Authority-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office is intensifying awareness of National ID Authentication Services, or NIDAS, as it prepares government agencies and private institutions in the province for possible integration with the National ID System.

NIDAS provides relying parties with tools to securely verify identities using National ID credentials, demographic information and biometrics.

“As part of the activities conducted by PSA Guimaras in celebration of International Identity Day on September 16 and 17, 2026, the PSA Guimaras National ID Team participated in the Serbisyo sa Barangay and PhilHealth YAKAP Caravan held on September 17 in Barangay Lawi, Municipality of Jordan, Guimaras,” Supervising Statistical Specialist Vicente G. Geonanga said.

“The team was invited to provide National ID registration and related services, while an information campaign on NIDAS was conducted as one of the activities during the community-based event,” Geonanga added.

The activity brought together representatives from PhilHealth; the Jordan Mayor’s Office; Municipal Assessor’s Office; Local Civil Registry Office of Jordan; Provincial Health Office; Municipal Health Office; Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office; Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office; Department of Social Welfare and Development; Department of Agriculture; Department of Agrarian Reform; the dental team; Barangay Lawi Council and officials; Barangay Lawi health workers; and Lawi day care workers.

During the campaign, PSA Guimaras introduced NIDAS and the National ID eVerify platform and explained how relying parties may use the services to securely and reliably verify an individual’s identity through the National ID System.

The discussion also covered different authentication tiers and modes and their possible applications based on the identity verification needs of relying parties.

PSA personnel emphasized proper onboarding, data privacy and cybersecurity in adopting and using National ID authentication services.

The measures are intended to ensure that identity information is accessed, processed and verified through appropriate and secure systems.

The campaign also discussed the potential use of NIDAS by government agencies, private institutions and other relying parties.

Institutions interested in adopting National ID authentication services may coordinate with PSA for guidance on requirements and the integration process once they are ready to develop or integrate their systems.

PSA and the Department of Information and Communications Technology launched National ID eVerify in June 2024 as a platform for government agencies and private establishments to authenticate registered individuals and streamline identity verification.

“The NIDAS information campaign in Lawi was among the activities conducted by PSA Guimaras during the two-day celebration of International Identity Day, which also featured National ID registration, issuance, updating of demographic information, and other information and community-based activities,” Geonanga said.

“The activity formed part of PSA Guimaras’ continuing NIDAS advocacy throughout 2026, following a series of stakeholder engagements aimed at increasing understanding of National ID authentication and possible system integration,” Geonanga added.

The advocacy began with the Lecture Series on Key Provincial Statistics on March 10, when PSA Guimaras discussed National ID System integration, including NIDAS and the National ID eVerify platform.

The session also covered authentication through demographic information, QR codes and biometric information, as well as onboarding and system integration for relying parties.

On April 27, NIDAS was discussed during the Guimaras Provincial Convergence Committee Meeting.

Stakeholders were briefed on the potential integration of NIDAS into government and private institutional systems for secure identity verification, subject to applicable compliance, onboarding and data privacy requirements.

PSA Guimaras held a National ID Integration Meeting with Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Medical Center on May 20 to discuss the possible application of NIDAS for secure identity verification in health care.

On June 26, PSA Guimaras conducted a National ID System Integration Meeting with Guimaras State University-Mosqueda Campus.

Participants were oriented on NIDAS, National ID eVerify, onboarding and integration requirements, data privacy and cybersecurity.

PSA also assured the university of technical assistance throughout the integration process.

The advocacy continued with the Serbisyo sa Barangay with National ID Integration Orientation on July 30.

The activity discussed NIDAS, authentication tiers and modes, and the National ID eVerify platform.

It also presented examples of government agencies that had integrated their systems with NIDAS and allowed participants to raise questions about authentication and possible integration with their respective systems and services.

“As of September 2026, no relying party in Guimaras has yet onboarded and integrated with NIDAS. The stakeholder engagements conducted by PSA Guimaras have primarily served as avenues for information dissemination, orientation, and preparation for possible integration,” Geonanga said.

“Interested institutions may coordinate with PSA for technical guidance and assistance once they are ready to undertake the necessary integration process,” Geonanga added.

PSA’s onboarding framework requires interested relying parties to undergo regulatory and technical processes before gaining access to National ID authentication services.

Despite the absence of an onboarded relying party in Guimaras, PSA continues to build awareness of NIDAS and provide information on the requirements and considerations involved in adopting the authentication services.

As of August 2026, 171,035 individuals in Guimaras had registered with the National ID, equivalent to 88.68 percent of the province’s population of 192,874 based on the 2024 Census of Population.

PSA records confirm Guimaras had a population of 192,874 as of July 1, 2024.

The NIDAS information campaign in Lawi formed part of PSA Guimaras’ effort to move National ID use beyond registration and identification toward secure, reliable and efficient identity verification.

“The activity also highlighted PSA Guimaras’ continuing commitment to promoting the use and potential integration of the National ID System among government agencies, private institutions, and other relying parties,” Geonanga added.

As part of its International Identity Day activities, PSA Guimaras continues to promote National ID authentication services and encourage stakeholders to explore their use for identity verification.

“Through sustained stakeholder engagement, information dissemination, and technical guidance, PSA Guimaras continues to support the broader goal of strengthening identity authentication through the National ID System,” Geonanga said.
