The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office held a storytelling drive to celebrate National Women’s Month, using stories and community outreach to promote positive values, gender equality, and early childhood development.
The activity carried the theme “PSA Guimaras Serbisyong May Kuwento: Sharing Stories, Spreading Smiles, Shaping Futures.”
The storytelling drive was held on March 2, 2026, at Bungalon Daycare Center in Sitio Bungalon, Barangay Igang, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, with pupils and Child Development Worker Mecca P. Gamalando taking part.
The initiative formed part of the agency’s National Women’s Month observance, which aligns with the Philippines’ broader March campaign recognizing women’s rights, contributions, and empowerment through education, advocacy, and community engagement.
“By sharing stories that emphasize kindness, respect, cooperation, and equal opportunities for all, the initiative reinforces the importance of building inclusive mindsets at an early age,” said Ms. Nelida B. Losare, chief statistical specialist.
Losare led the storytelling activity with the PSA Guimaras staff, creating an engaging and meaningful learning experience for the children.
The program also included gift-giving, the distribution of snacks, and the turnover of supplies to support the daycare center’s needs.
Gamalando thanked PSA Guimaras for choosing their center as a program recipient, saying initiatives like this help support the center’s development and accreditation efforts.
Additionally, CSS Nelida B. Losare emphasized the agency’s continued commitment to community outreach.
“PSA Guimaras remains dedicated to initiatives that nurture young minds and promote inclusive values. Through activities like this, we hope to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and contribute to building a more empowered and equitable community,” she stated.
PSA Guimaras said it aims to sustain and expand the initiative to other daycare centers across the province to continue sharing stories and shaping children’s futures.
National Women’s Month is observed every March in the Philippines under legal and policy frameworks that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, with the Philippine Commission on Women leading the annual nationwide campaign.
