PSA Guimaras marks 86 years with stats, ID services
PSA Guimaras provides National ID services, showcases its history and holds trivia activities during Lingo ng Kabataan from Aug. 17-21, 2026, at the covered gym in New Poblacion, Buenavista, Guimaras.
GUIMARAS — The Philippine Statistics Authority’s Guimaras office brought National ID services and statistical information closer to the community as it marked the 86th anniversary of Commonwealth Act No. 591.
The activities ran from Aug. 17-21, 2026, as part of the Philippine Statistics History Commemoration 2026.
The provincial office joined the municipality of Buenavista’s Lingo ng Kabataan celebration at the covered gym in New Poblacion.
PSA Guimaras processed 222 National ID-related transactions through its information booth. These included 64 registrations, 37 record updates and 121 ID issuances.
The booth also provided visitors with information about PSA programs and services.
A PSA History Corner showcased the history and development of the Philippine Statistical System and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The exhibit gave participants, particularly young people, an opportunity to learn about the country’s statistical system and the PSA’s role in producing official statistics.
“To make the information campaign more interactive, PSA Guimaras conducted a PSA Trivia activity for participants of Lingo ng Kabataan,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
“The activity featured questions on PSA history, programs, and services. Participants were given a chance to receive prizes, including National ID T-shirts and fans, adding an engaging element to the learning activity,” Losare added.
PSA Guimaras also held a 30-item trivia challenge for its employees on Aug. 20, 2026.
The questions covered the history of Philippine statistics, Commonwealth Act No. 591, PSA milestones, official statistics, and PSA programs and services.
“The activity encouraged personnel to revisit important milestones in the country’s statistical history while promoting employee engagement. The top three winners were recognized and awarded prizes,” Losare said.
The provincial office also displayed a commemorative streamer outside its office to raise awareness of the anniversary and the Philippine Statistics History Commemoration 2026.
PSA Guimaras published two ESTADISTIKA 2026 infographics on its official Facebook page. The materials presented the agency’s history, development, mandate, major functions, programs and services.
The Facebook post extended the information campaign to online audiences.
Commonwealth Act No. 591, approved Aug. 19, 1940, created the Bureau of the Census and Statistics and consolidated the government’s statistical activities under the bureau.
The present-day PSA was established under the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which reorganized the country’s statistical system and merged four government statistical agencies.
PSA Guimaras said the commemoration provided an opportunity to revisit the history of Philippine statistics while making government services and statistical information more accessible.
“The activities also underscored PSA Guimaras’ continuing commitment to promote the value of official statistics, strengthen public awareness of its programs and services, and provide accessible government services to the people of Guimaras,” Losare said.
