PSA Guimaras equips slaughterhouses for digital livestock reporting

GUIMARAS — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office turned over tablets to the municipal slaughterhouses of Jordan and Buenavista to support the digital submission of livestock and poultry administrative data through the Livestock and Poultry Administrative Data (LaPAD) Reporting System.
The turnover was conducted Sept. 22, 2026, and led by Statistical Analyst Roney E. Genanda, together with Ayeesha Joy Igual, state auditor II of the Commission on Audit (COA) Region 6.
“The initiative aims to equip local data reporters with digital tools to facilitate more efficient and timely reporting of administrative data,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
In Jordan, the tablet was received by Maria Magdalena S. Gencianeo, special operations officer II, during the turnover at the municipal slaughterhouse.
In Buenavista, the device was received by Leonarlin P. Pahilagao, agricultural technologist and designated local economic enterprise supervisor.
The LaPAD Reporting System is a web-based platform that enables electronic reporting and management of administrative data related to livestock and poultry.
Launched nationwide in October 2025, the system was developed by the PSA to improve the collection, consolidation and monitoring of livestock and poultry data from local government units and meat establishments.
“It helps streamline reporting procedures, reduce reliance on manual documentation, and improve the organization of submitted information,” Losare said.
Data generated from local slaughterhouses provide information on livestock and poultry slaughtering activities.
These include the number of animals slaughtered or dressed, total carcass or dressed weight, and the provinces where the animals originated.
“These data contribute to the production of statistics used for sectoral monitoring, evidence-based planning, program implementation, and government decision-making,” Losare said.
Losare noted that strengthening local reporting mechanisms is essential to improving the availability, quality and consistency of administrative data used in statistical production.
She also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government agencies and local government units in strengthening the Philippine Statistical System.
“The participation of local slaughterhouses and designated data reporters helps ensure that administrative data are properly captured and submitted,” Losare said.
Losare called for continued cooperation among participating local government units and data providers to ensure the accurate and timely submission of livestock and poultry administrative data to support informed decision-making and development planning in the province.
