The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office deployed Statistical Researchers (SRs) for the conduct of the 2021 January Round Labor Force Survey (LFS), which started on January 8 and will conclude before the month ends.
The LFS covers 12 primary sampling units (PSUs) or Enumeration Areas (EAs) in Guimaras.
192 sample households (HHs) were pre-identified in 12 EAs which covered 12 barangays – Avila (15HHs), Mabini (14HHs), and Tanag (12HHs) in the Municipality of Buenavista; Bugnay (18HHs), Sta. Teresa EA 0200 (22HHs) and Sta. Teresa EA 0300 (15HHs) in Jordan; Sapal (17 HHs) and Chavez (11 HHs) in San Lorenzo and; Calaya (20HHs), Igdarapdap (18HHs), Cabalagnan (13HHs), and Salvacion (17HHs) in Nueva Valencia.
The LFS 2021 January Round has rider questionnaires on school-to-work transition of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the UN Women which aims to provide data support on the challenge to shorten the school-to-work transition and raise youth employment rate, likewise, the UN Women’s rider questions aim to collect data on the gendered impacts or consequences of COVID-19.
“The LFS previously implemented quarterly by the PSA will be done monthly starting this year to provide the government policy makers and planners the timely and accurate information on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population to be used as basis for policy formulation and crafting of plans and programs on the creation and generation of gainful employment and livelihood opportunities; reduction of unemployment and underemployment; and enhancement of the welfare of working population,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
Losare also explained that the survey is conducted either through phone interview, online interview, or face-to-face interview using Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) or Pen-and-Paper Personal Interview (PAPI) with adherence to physical distancing and strictly following health protocols.
PSO Losare is soliciting support of all sample households to provide accurate and reliable data and guaranteed that all information gathered will be treated with utmost confidentiality and will be used as reference on the levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment in the province.
“All information collected by the hired Statistical Researchers from the sample households shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of Republic Act 10625,” Losare said.
