KALIBO, Aklan — The Philippine Statistics Authority Aklan presented the preliminary results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System to selected employees and staff of the Municipality of Balete on July 7, 2025, at the new municipal building’s conference room.
Balete is the first among Aklan’s 17 municipalities to receive a preview of the 2024 CBMS data gathered by the PSA last year.
The presentation aimed to inform selected local officials and employees about the various statistics generated by the CBMS, their relevance to assessing progress on Sustainable Development Goals, and the current socio-economic conditions of households and the general population in the municipality.
It also sought the assistance of LGU personnel familiar with local conditions to help review and validate the data to ensure accuracy and reliability before its official turnover to the LGU.
PSA-Aklan Chief Statistical Specialist Engr. Antonet B. Catubuan delivered the opening remarks and thanked the LGU for its active support in hosting the activity as scheduled.
She emphasized the importance of CBMS data in guiding targeted programs that aim to improve the quality of life for residents of Balete.
Senior Statistical Specialist and CBMS focal person Peter S. Mangilog led the presentation of the preliminary results, highlighting key indicators aligned with the SDGs.
These included data on access to electricity, clean fuels and technology, basic drinking water and sanitation services, handwashing facilities with soap and water, secure housing tenure, financial inclusion, safety and security, and internet exposure.
He also shared data on primary water sources, housing characteristics, overcrowding, food security, reasons for not availing medical treatment, and barangay-level indicators such as garbage collection availability, mobile network coverage, and disaster risk reduction and management efforts.
Following the presentation, Mangilog outlined the remaining CBMS-related activities and reminded the LGU of the required documents for data turnover.
An open forum allowed participants to ask questions and provide feedback on the data presented.
Mangilog thanked the participants for their input and assured them that their observations would be addressed.
Before the program concluded, Vice Mayor Patrick Lachica expressed gratitude to the PSA for conducting the activity and highlighted its value in formulating evidence-based policies and programs for Balete.
He assured continued LGU support for future PSA programs and activities.
Present during the event were department heads from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Rural Health Unit, Municipal Planning and Development Office, Agriculture Office, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, 4Ps Office, and selected LGU staff.
