The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VI and the Aklan Provincial Health Office are exploring the possible integration of National ID Authentication Services to support health sector digitalization in Aklan.
The discussion was held June 8 as part of efforts to strengthen digital information systems and data interoperability within the province’s health sector, according to a PSA RSSO VI press release dated June 23, 2026.
The initiative centers on the potential use of National ID-enabled authentication tools to improve identity verification, data quality, and digital service delivery in health information systems.
During the meeting, CSS Antonet Catubuan provided updates on National ID registration activities in Aklan.
Catubuan highlighted continuing field operations and initiatives to expand registration coverage, particularly in the local government unit of Ibajay.
Registration Officer III Jared Barile presented the National ID Authentication Services and discussed their possible applications in secure identity verification and health data management.
The presentation also covered available verification platforms, onboarding requirements, and possible use cases for more reliable, interoperable, and efficient health information systems.
Representatives from the Aklan Provincial Health Office, including Dr. Leslie Sedillo, PHO II, and LGU Ibajay Medical Officer IV Dr. Daxstar Sedillo, welcomed the presentation.
They also expressed support for exploring the adoption of National ID-enabled authentication solutions as part of Aklan’s broader digital transformation efforts.
The National ID system, formally known as the Philippine Identification System, was created to provide Filipinos and resident aliens with a valid proof of identity that can help improve access to public and private services.
In the health sector, digital identity tools can support faster and more accurate patient verification, reduce duplicate records, and improve coordination among service providers.
PSA RSSO VI and the Aklan Provincial Health Office reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate on digital initiatives that promote secure data exchange, improved service delivery, and stronger information management in the health sector.
