The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Region 6 has initiated the registration process for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or National ID for children between one (1) to four (4) years old.
PSA 6 Regional Director Nelida Amolar announced that the program started on February 13, with plans to extend the registration to other areas in Western Visayas in the upcoming weeks.
Amolar clarified that during registration, children must be accompanied by their parents or guardians. Adults are required to present the child’s birth certificate. If the parent is unavailable, guardians must provide additional documents, such as an authorization letter, along with their PhilSys ID.
For the registration process, only demographic information and a front-facing photograph of the children are required. However, once the children reach the age of five, they must revisit the registration center to provide their biometric data.
PSA 6 has indicated they will issue notifications to the parent or guardian 180 days before the child’s fifth birthday, on the fifth birthday itself, and 180 days before the sixth birthday, reminding them to return to the registration center for biometric data capture.
To date, over 6.7 million PhilSys IDs have been issued in Western Visayas. Of this number, 2,481,431 ePhilIDs have been delivered, and 4,306,268 physical ID cards have been distributed.
Here is the breakdown of ID deliveries by province:
Aklan: 613,177
Antique: 484,798
Capiz: 720,023
Guimaras: 214,815
Iloilo: 2,084,510
Negros Occidental: 2,670,376
The registration remains ongoing, targeting not only the age group of 1 to 4 years old but also those aged 5 to 15 years old.
