PSA-6 highlights National ID benefits during Identity Day month

ILOILO CITY — The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VI (PSA RSSO VI) highlighted the growing practical value of the National ID through private-sector partnerships, digital integration, community-based registration and workforce-readiness initiatives during the month-long celebration of International Identity Day.
International Identity Day is observed every Sept. 16, with this year’s celebration carrying the theme “My Identity, My Shadow. Never Apart.”
PSA-6 said the celebration underscored the importance of having a secure and accessible means of establishing one’s identity while showing how the National ID is becoming increasingly connected to everyday services and opportunities.
Through co-location and mobile registration activities, PSA-6 continued bringing National ID services closer to communities in partnership with government agencies and local stakeholders.
National ID registration and related services were made available alongside government programs such as UPLIFT and YAKAP, allowing beneficiaries to access identity services where they were already receiving government assistance.
Mobile registration also enabled PSA teams to reach residents who may have difficulty accessing fixed registration centers, particularly those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas and other underserved communities.
As part of the celebration, PSA-6 partnered with Beauty Essentials Facial Center to offer a special benefit to National ID holders.
National ID holders who present their identification at the PSA National ID Registration Center at J. Villanueva Building on Iznart Street, Iloilo City, may receive a free facial voucher from Beauty Essentials Facial Center, subject to applicable terms and availability.
PSA-6 said the partnership illustrates how the National ID can also support private-sector transactions and partnerships that provide additional benefits to the public.
Malinao integrates National ID system
The National ID is also being integrated into local government systems in Western Visayas.
The municipal government of Malinao, Aklan, secured technical clearance from the Department of Information and Communications Technology and PSA on Sept. 14 for its National ID system integration.
PSA-6 said the development is another step toward allowing local governments to use National ID-enabled identity verification for more efficient and secure delivery of public services.
National ID reaches graduating students
PSA-6 also brought National ID information to young Filipinos preparing to enter the workforce through its participation in Central Philippine University’s Semestral Pre-Employment Orientation for Workforce Entrant’s Readiness, or POWER, Session on Sept. 17.
Registration Officer III Jared Xerxes F. Barile served as a resource person during the session at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, which drew approximately 600 graduating students from various colleges of the university.
Barile discussed the National ID and Civil Registry System and provided students with practical information as they prepared to transition from university to employment.
His presentation covered the physical, paper and Digital National ID, including access through the eGovPH application.
He also emphasized the importance of having accessible proof of identity when dealing with government agencies, employers, financial institutions and other service providers.
The session also discussed the importance of accurate civil registry records, procedures for correcting civil registry entries and the availability of free civil registry documents for first-time jobseekers, subject to applicable requirements.
PSA-6 said the initiatives demonstrate its continuing effort to make the National ID accessible through community-based registration, government program co-locations, private-sector partnerships, digital government integration and information campaigns.
