The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) reiterated that all protocols and guidelines on COVID-19 are being followed in accepting newly assigned personnel to Western Visayas.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesperson, made the clarification after a newly assigned police lieutenant tested positive for COVID-19.
“We followed the protocols by the Inter-Agency Task Force. This includes the isolation of newly-assigned personnel coming from other units,” he said.
The Department of Health-Center for Health Development Western Visayas (DOH-CHD 6) on Thursday confirmed that individuals who are from outside Western Visayas but working in the city and province of Iloilo tested positive for COVID-19.
One of them was a 38-year-old male police officer from Pangasinan who was assigned to the Iloilo City Police Office.
Gorero said he was one of the 10 newly assigned officers who arrived June 9.
Instead of the usual courtesy call, they were immediately referred to the Regional Health Service before they were brought to a quarantine facility in Iloilo City.
He immediately underwent swab test and remains in quarantine until his result was released.
“PRO-6 is exerting full efforts in coordination with City Health office in the conduct of contact tracing to ensure the safety of all persons that said person had been in contact in and out of the city,” Gorero said.
He added that PRO-6 assured that it will diligently ensure compliance with health and safety protocols among its personnel to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Recently, two ICPO personnel assigned in Mandurriao district were also infected with COVID-19 positive.
WV Patient No. 149 is a 32-year old male personnel who has been staying in La Paz district. He was assigned to Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao.
WV Patient No. 151 is a 23-year old personnel who hails from Lambunao town in Iloilo. He was assigned to one of the hotels used as billeting area for OFW repatriates.
