BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a property caretaker near a seaport here on Tuesday, which they believe may be work-related or personal in nature.
The victim, Joedan Rafols, 31, of Barangay 13, was riding a tricycle on his way to the port when he was gunned down.
Police Capt. Francis Depasucat, head of Police Station 1, said the unidentified gunman, who was riding a motorcycle, might have been tailing Rafols.
Rafols sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and stomach and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Depasucat said investigators recovered an empty cartridge from an unknown firearm at the crime scene.
Authorities are reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to identify the suspect.
“We will check if someone may have held a grudge against him or if he had enemies,” Depasucat said.
