The special investigation team (SIT) tasked to probe the killing of businesswoman Claire Diergos is now preparing to file criminal charges against the suspects.
By suspects, “we are looking at at least three persons,” Senior Master Sergeant Francisco Lindero, Jr., SIT Diergos spokesperson, said Friday.
Lindero declined to give more details on the suspects pending the actual filing in court.
But he said they have identified two possible motives for the killing.
Lindero again opted not to elaborate but claimed that it’s part of the four possible motives that the SIT Diergos has considered earlier.
The team has earlier claimed there could be four angles in the case – robbery, jealousy, uncollected debts, and business rivalry.
While the SIT is holding on to circumstantial evidence, Lindero is confident that the case is strong enough to stand in court.
“These circumstantial evidences are also corroborated by testimonies and other evidences that we have gathered,” he said.
These pieces of evidence include footages from a CCTV camera and those taken from Diergos’ car’s dash cam – the voice recording and facial images.
Presently, SIT Diergos is just waiting for the results of the investigation by the PNP Regional Crime Laboratory Office 6 and Globe Telecom, Inc. on the mobile numbers of the victim.
Lindero said the family of Diergos has been informed about the development of the case.
“They were very happy. Nagtulo man luha nila,” he said.
The body of 36-year-old Diergos was found inside a sports utility vehicle (SUV) afternoon of Oct 26, 2021 in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
She died from two stab injuries and an incise wound on her neck.
She also suffered two hesitation or tentative, stab wounds on her left hand, specifically on her palm, and two incise wounds on her right thumb.
She also had scalp hematoma on the left side of her head and another hematoma on her right thigh.
