In a push to strengthen leadership accountability and ensure operational readiness, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) conducted a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for Third-Level Police Commissioned Officers early Wednesday, August 7, at Camp Gen. Martin Teofilo B. Delgado.
The assessment, which began at 5:00 a.m., involved 26 Police Colonels from across Western Visayas, including members of the Command Group, Regional Staff, Provincial and City Directors, and heads of National Support Units.
The event was spearheaded by the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division (RLDDD), in partnership with the Regional Medical and Dental Unit 6, under the supervision of Police Brigadier General Alexander V. Mariano, Deputy Regional Director for Administration.
PRO-6 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Jose Dino Ligan, was present to show support and underscore the significance of the activity.
“The Physical Fitness Test conducted by our officers is a comprehensive assessment of their physical condition, placing emphasis on their strength and endurance to ensure that they remain healthy and capable of effectively performing their duties as law enforcers,” Ligan said.
He added that the initiative supports the Philippine National Police’s five-minute response time standard, which “demands a high level of physical readiness and operational efficiency at all times.”
The PFT consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, and a 12-minute run, evaluated using age- and sex-specific benchmarks designed to measure muscular strength, endurance, and cardiovascular health—qualities crucial to leadership roles in law enforcement.
Beyond health, the activity also forms part of the PNP’s internal cleansing and performance monitoring programs aimed at reinforcing discipline, transparency, and professional excellence among its top officers.
With the implementation of regular fitness testing, PRO-6 aims to lead by example and ensure its senior officers meet the same standards expected of all personnel.
The PNP has been emphasizing physical preparedness and moral integrity as dual pillars of its modernization and reform agenda, especially for senior officials tasked with high-stakes leadership and community engagement.
