PRO6 arrests 204, seizes PHP 16.18M in operations

ILOILO CITY — Police Regional Office 6 arrested 204 people in 187 operations against illegal fishing and illegal logging across Western Visayas from Aug. 1–15, 2026.
According to PRO6’s accomplishment report, police conducted 69 anti-illegal fishing operations that led to the arrest of 146 individuals.
Authorities confiscated fish valued at PHP 260,720.00 during the anti-illegal fishing campaign.
Police also seized various fishing paraphernalia worth PHP 15,537,400.00.
The combined value of fish and fishing equipment confiscated in the operations reached PHP 15,798,120.00.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office led the anti-illegal fishing campaign with 32 operations and 82 arrests.
The Antique Police Provincial Office followed with 27 operations and 29 arrests.
PRO6 also conducted 118 anti-illegal logging operations during the same period, resulting in the arrest of 58 individuals.
Police confiscated or recovered lumber valued at PHP 308,470.84 in the anti-illegal logging campaign.
Authorities also recovered charcoal worth PHP 76,450.00.
The combined value of lumber and charcoal confiscated or recovered reached PHP 384,920.84.
The Antique Police Provincial Office recorded the most anti-illegal logging operations with 44 operations and 40 arrests.
The Aklan Police Provincial Office followed with 37 operations and 14 arrests.
Overall, fish, fishing paraphernalia, lumber, and charcoal confiscated or recovered in the two campaigns were valued at PHP 16,183,040.84.
PRO6 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño said sustained law enforcement and community participation are essential to protecting the region’s natural resources.
“Ang ating kampanya laban sa illegal fishing at illegal logging ay hindi lamang tungkol sa pagpapatupad ng batas. Layunin din nitong pangalagaan ang ating likas na yaman at protektahan ang kabuhayan ng mga komunidad na umaasa rito. Hinihikayat natin ang publiko na patuloy na makipagtulungan sa kapulisan at iba pang kinauukulang ahensya sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng impormasyon hinggil sa mga ilegal na gawaing sumisira sa ating kalikasan,” pahayag ni PBGen Tuaño.
PRO6 said it would continue strengthening coordination with local governments, concerned government agencies, and communities to protect Western Visayas’ marine and forest resources.
