PRO-NIR promotes 167 police personnel to higher ranks

BACOLOD CITY — A total of 167 personnel of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region were promoted to the next higher ranks across the region.

Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director, led the simultaneous oath-taking, donning, and pinning ceremony for the newly promoted personnel at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office covered court at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania on Wednesday.

The newly promoted personnel included 18 police majors, four police captains, 12 police lieutenants, 42 police chief master sergeants, five police senior master sergeants, 20 police master sergeants, 34 police staff sergeants, and 32 police corporals.

Of the total, 34 were police commissioned officers.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of promoted personnel with 41.

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office followed with 40, while the Bacolod City Police Office had 23.

The Siquijor Police Provincial Office had 14 promoted personnel, the regional headquarters had eight, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion had seven.

The personnel assigned to the other PRO-NIR units accounted for the remaining 34 promotions.

In his message, Cardiño said every promoted officer is expected to provide faster, more responsive, accessible, and compassionate police service that strengthens public trust and reflects the organization’s commitment to the community.

He emphasized that promotion is one of the most significant milestones in a police officer’s career because it recognizes competence, commitment, and years of faithful service.

Cardiño said promotion also carries greater responsibility to lead with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.

“Sa PRO-NIR, ang bawat promosyon ay kaakibat ng mas mataas na antas ng pananagutan sa ating komunidad. Ang bawat personnel ng PNP ay kailangang maging simbolo ng serbisyong tunay na nararamdaman ng ating mga kababayan,” Cardiño said.

The promotions reaffirm the Philippine National Police’s merit-based system, which recognizes officers who have consistently demonstrated integrity, discipline, strong performance, and commitment to public service.

Cardiño also recognized the invaluable support of the families of the newly promoted personnel.
