BACOLOD CITY — No crime incidents were recorded in festival sites during the 11-day Buglasan Festival held in Negros Oriental, according to the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), underscoring the success of intensified police visibility, efficient crowd control, and strategic coordination among security forces and partner agencies.
The regional office highlighted effective law enforcement, community cooperation, and proactive security measures throughout the festivities that made the celebration generally peaceful and orderly from Oct. 16 to 26.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director, commended Police Col. Criscente Tiguelo, director of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), and all security personnel deployed for their dedication, professionalism, and tireless efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the public throughout the celebration.
A total of 1,081 personnel, including augmentation from other law enforcement units, were deployed during the entire duration of the festival, covering major festival sites, parade routes, entertainment venues, transport terminals, and accommodation areas.
Ibay emphasized that this achievement is a reflection of PRO-NIR’s unwavering commitment to deliver safe, secure, and people-centered policing.
He also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the provincial government, partner agencies, and the community for their steadfast cooperation, vigilance, and support.
“Through the strong coordination with partner agencies, the region once again proved that peace and order can be maintained even during large-scale, vibrant celebrations when cooperation, vigilance, and a shared commitment to public service are present,” he said.
