BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region has deployed 47 personnel to isolated barangays across the region to strengthen grassroots police visibility and foster closer collaboration with communities.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, acting regional director of PRO-NIR, led the send-off ceremony for the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay teams at the covered court of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office in Barangay Estefania here on Wednesday.
The personnel were organized into five R-PSB teams and deployed to identified geographically isolated villages across the region.
These include Barangay Pinapugasan in Escalante City, Barangay Winaswasan in Calatrava, and Barangay Bug-ang in Toboso, all in Negros Occidental.
The teams were also deployed to Barangay Budlasan in Canlaon City and Barangay Caigangan in Santa Catalina, both in Negros Oriental.
Before their deployment, the personnel completed training to enhance their competencies in community engagement, barangay-based policing, crime prevention, and public safety.
The deployment of R-PSB teams also aims to enhance the delivery of responsive police services and reinforce sustained efforts to maintain peace, order, and public safety in their respective communities.
The R-PSB program is a Philippine National Police initiative designed to intensify community policing, strengthen police presence in barangays, and bring government services closer to communities, particularly in areas that need sustained peace and development support.
The deployment reaffirms the regional office’s commitment to bringing police services closer to communities and strengthening peace and order at the grassroots level.
In his message, Cardiño said the initiative aims to ensure that peace and security begin at the barangay level.
He reminded the personnel to embody the principles of the SAFE NIR Program through visible, responsive, compassionate, and service-oriented policing.
“Be Seen through your presence, Appreciated through your professionalism, Felt through your prompt and compassionate service, and be Extraordinary by building trust and making a lasting positive impact in every barangay you serve,” Cardiño said.
