More than PHP 39 million worth of shabu was recovered in a series of anti-illegal drug operations across Western Visayas throughout October.
Reports from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that various police units conducted 127 anti-narcotics operations from Oct. 1 to 31.
The intensified campaign led to the confiscation of approximately 5.821 kilograms of shabu valued at PHP 39.582 million.
Police operatives also seized 3,645 grams of marijuana and one gram of kush.
A total of 161 individuals were arrested, including 51 high-value targets and 110 street-level pushers.
During the same period, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) recorded the highest volume of drug seizures, recovering 2.333 kilograms of shabu worth PHP 15.8 million.
The IPPO also confiscated 60 grams of marijuana.
Closely following were the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), which seized 2.038 kilograms of shabu valued at PHP 13.85 million, and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, which recovered 1.07 kilograms of shabu worth PHP 7.27 million.
Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, said the illegal drugs were seized through coordinated, intelligence-driven operations.
He added that the efforts included buy-bust operations and the implementation of search warrants conducted in partnership with local police units and community members.
“This accomplishment reflects the unwavering dedication and commitment of our personnel in protecting communities from the threats posed by illegal drugs,” Ligan said.
He assured the public that the police will remain steadfast in their mission and continue to exert all efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of Western Visayas residents in pursuit of a drug-free community.
Ligan also called for the continued active involvement of local government units, barangay officials, and residents, urging them to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities in their areas.
