PRO-6 seizes PHP 210.5M drugs in four months

ILOILO CITY — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has breached the PHP 200 million mark in the value of illegal drugs seized during its four-month anti-drug campaign.

From May 22, when Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño assumed his post as Western Visayas police chief, until Sept. 22, police units in Region 6 seized approximately 30.87 kilograms of suspected shabu, 375.86 grams of suspected marijuana, three milliliters of liquid marijuana and 360 grams of suspected kush.

The total estimated value of the seized illegal drugs was pegged at around PHP 210.5 million.

Tuaño said 671 individuals were also arrested in 540 anti-illegal drug operations conducted during the period.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) recorded the highest number of operations with 156, resulting in 216 arrests and the recovery of approximately 13.50 kilograms of suspected shabu, 22 grams of suspected marijuana and 355 grams of suspected kush, with an estimated street value of PHP 92.36 million.

The Capiz Police Provincial Office conducted 56 operations that led to 61 arrests and the seizure of about 689.54 grams of suspected shabu and one gram of suspected marijuana, valued at approximately PHP 4.69 million.

Meanwhile, the Antique Police Provincial Office recorded 18 operations and 17 arrests, with around 851.30 grams of suspected shabu and 10 grams of suspected marijuana recovered, valued at PHP 5.79 million.

The Aklan Police Provincial Office conducted 28 operations that resulted in 33 arrests and the confiscation of approximately 379.03 grams of suspected shabu and 133.96 grams of suspected marijuana, with an estimated value of PHP 2.59 million.

The Guimaras Police Provincial Office recorded 18 operations, 19 arrests and the recovery of about 49.50 grams of suspected shabu and 6.60 grams of suspected marijuana, valued at PHP 337,392.

The Iloilo City Police Office recorded 242 operations that resulted in 290 arrests and the confiscation of approximately 7.75 kilograms of suspected shabu, 202.30 grams of suspected marijuana, three milliliters of liquid marijuana and five grams of suspected kush, with an estimated value of PHP 52.71 million.

The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 conducted 22 operations, resulting in 35 arrests and the recovery of 7.65 kilograms of suspected shabu valued at approximately PHP 52.02 million.

Tuaño said the figures reflect the continuing efforts of police units to address the illegal drug problem while maintaining coordination with communities and partner agencies.

“These numbers show the work being done on the ground, but we also know that enforcement alone is not enough. We need our communities to continue working with us. If you have information, report it through the proper channels or call Unified 911 so we can respond and take the appropriate action,” Tuaño said.

Along with the accomplishment, PRO-6 reminded the public to remain alert and report suspected illegal drug activities to the nearest police station or through official police channels.

The public was also advised not to confront or approach individuals suspected of involvement in illegal drugs and instead leave the matter to law enforcement authorities.
