ILOILO CITY — More than PHP 165 million worth of shabu was seized in the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6’s anti-drug campaign spanning three months.
From May 22 to Aug. 22, records showed that 24.333 kilograms of shabu with a standard drug price of PHP 165.47 million were seized in 415 anti-narcotics operations.
These resulted in the arrest of 175 high-value individuals (HVIs) and 314 street-level individuals, while 19 apprehended suspects were not classified.
Notably, a large portion of the confiscated shabu came from operations led by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
During the period, IPPO units seized 10.356 kilograms of shabu worth PHP 70.421 million, or 42.55% of PRO-6’s total drug haul.
The IPPO also seized 355 grams of kush, a pure or hybrid form of marijuana, and 22 grams of marijuana.
PRO-6’s premier anti-drug unit, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, came in second with 6.285 kilograms of shabu worth PHP 42.738 million.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) followed closely in third with 6.045 kilograms of shabu valued at PHP 41.109 million.
Meanwhile, the Antique Police Provincial Office seized 681 grams of shabu worth PHP 4.634 million; the Capiz Police Provincial Office, 603 grams valued at PHP 4.104 million; and the Aklan Police Provincial Office, 321 grams worth PHP 2.183 million.
The Guimaras Police Provincial Office seized 41 grams of shabu valued at PHP 278,800.
Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, PRO-6 director, said the figures reflect the police force’s aggressive campaign against illegal drugs.
He also lauded PRO-6 personnel for their efforts to arrest individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
The three-month campaign followed Tuaño’s assumption as PRO-6 chief in May, when he pledged to intensify law enforcement and crime-prevention operations across Western Visayas.
