Majority of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) personnel who registered for the Local Absentee Voting (LAV) cast their ballot.
Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson, said 4,119 of the 4,257 (or 96.76 percent) of police officers who registered for the LAV were able to vote on April 27, 28, and 29, 2022.
The 3-day LAV elections for PRO-6 personnel was conducted in six identified voting centers (VCs) across the region between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
These VCs were located in the police provincial offices (PPOs) of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) hosted the most number of registered voters with 1,753 but only 1,655 were able to cast their votes.
Of the 1,715 voters in Iloilo PPO, 1,681 were able to vote, including Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, Western Visayas police chief.
Only one of the 312 voters in Aklan PPO failed to cast his/her vote while five of the 211 voters in Capiz PPO did not make it.
All 173 voters of Antique PPO and 93 in Guimaras have exercise their right to suffrage.
“It is advantageous for us uniformed personnel to participate in this Local Absentee Voting in order to exercise our right to suffrage, as most of our personnel are deployed outside their respective municipalities come May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections,” Dongbo said.
The deployment of police personnel for the May 9 polls has already started.
