In a span of seven days, different units of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 arrested 42 suspects involved in illegal drugs.
Thanks to the Enhanced Managing Police Operation (EMPO), PRO-6 spokesperson Col. Gilbert Gorero said.
EMPO, which is chaired by in Western Visayas by the PRO-6 deputy regional director for operations, widens the anti-criminality operational plan on regular law enforcement activities through police presence and focused operations, security measures through target hardening, and border controls.
Through EMPO, police also strengthen their social investigation through maximum use of quad media in intensifying public awareness, contingency planning through regular conduct of simulation exercises (SIMEX), Crisis Emergency Response Exercise (CEREX), and Communication Exercises (COMMEX); organization of red teams to challenge security preparations, feedback mechanism and offensive silence through tactical operations.
Gorero said the anti-illegal drug operations led to the seizure of P2,648,632 worth of suspected illegal drugs from Aug 1 – 7, 2020.
For the same period, PRO-6 also arrested 162 wanted persons, 17 of whom were lumped in the most wanted list of the region while 145 are considered as other wanted persons.
Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, said PRO-6 would be more stringent in its campaign against wanted persons.
“We will do that until such time that all of them are behind bars and until justice is served to the victims of crimes,” Pamuspusan said.
As he lauded the region’s cops for their accomplishments in the war against illegal drugs, Pamuspusan said they will continuously intensify their campaign against illegal drugs in the region amid the pandemic.
