An average of more than seven people a day were arrested by police units in Western Visayas during anti-illegal gambling operations in March.
Police Regional Office 6 records showed that authorities arrested 221 individuals from March 1–31, 2026.
The arrests resulted from 93 anti-illegal gambling operations conducted during the period.
Authorities also confiscated PHP 142,052.75 in bet money.
The Iloilo City Police Office recorded the highest number of operations with 38.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office followed with 23 operations.
Other units, including the Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Guimaras police offices, also contributed to the regionwide campaign.
PRO-6 said the sustained operations are part of its commitment to curb illegal gambling activities, which often contribute to other forms of criminality.
Authorities also reminded the public that participation in illegal gambling, whether as an operator, financier, or bettor, is punishable under existing laws and may result in fines, imprisonment, or both.
