Sixteen wanted persons were arrested in a 24-hour manhunt operation conducted across Western Visayas.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) carried out simultaneous operations from 6 a.m. on June 24 to 6 a.m. on June 25.
Of the 16 arrested, 15 were classified as other wanted persons, while one was tagged as a most wanted individual.
The Iloilo City Police Office logged the most arrests with eight suspects.
Capiz Police Provincial Office followed with four, Iloilo PPO with two, and Antique and Aklan PPOs with one arrest each.
The sole most wanted suspect arrested was ranked No. 3 on the Malay Municipal Police Station’s list.
The suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Commission on Elections Resolution No. 11067.
Bail was set at PHP200,000 for the firearms charge and PHP36,000 for the election violation.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, commended the dedication of the tracker teams in executing the arrests.
He also acknowledged the public’s support in providing timely and accurate information that led to the apprehensions.
