PRO-6 mobilizes 5,155 for martial law anniversary

ILOILO CITY — A total of 5,155 police personnel, augmentation personnel and force multipliers will be deployed across Western Visayas for the 54th anniversary of the declaration of martial law on Sept. 21.
The Police Regional Office 6 is stepping up security and public safety preparations for the observance.
PRO-6 regional director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said the deployment will include 4,331 Philippine National Police personnel, supported by 101 augmentation unit personnel and 723 force multipliers.
They will maintain peace and order, secure public places and ensure public safety in key areas across Western Visayas.
The anniversary marks the date of Proclamation No. 1081, dated Sept. 21, 1972, through which then-President Ferdinand Marcos placed the Philippines under martial law.
Tuaño said the deployment will focus on strategic areas, major thoroughfares, transport terminals, government facilities and other locations where public gatherings or increased movement of people are expected.
Police units have also been directed to maintain visibility and remain ready to respond to any situation while respecting the public’s rights.
“We are prepared, but our approach remains calm, professional, and focused on public safety. Our personnel will be visible, approachable, and ready to assist anyone who may need police support,” Tuaño said.
He called on the public to help keep the observance peaceful by staying alert, following lawful instructions and immediately reporting suspicious activity or situations requiring police attention.
“Everyone has a role in keeping our communities safe. We ask the public to cooperate with our personnel, avoid spreading unverified information, and report concerns through proper channels. Our goal is simple: to protect people while allowing everyone to exercise their rights peacefully and responsibly,” Tuaño added.
PRO-6 said its security preparations reflect its continuing commitment to The PRO6 Way toward “Responsive, Trusted, and Transformative Policing for a Safer Western Visayas.”
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant, secure personal belongings and follow traffic and security advisories.
Those needing immediate assistance should coordinate with the nearest police unit or contact emergency authorities.
PRO-6 said police personnel across Western Visayas will remain on heightened readiness throughout the observance to help ensure a safe, orderly and peaceful commemoration.
