PRO-6 launches Boracay online public safety reporting platform
By Jennifer P. Rendon
ILOILO CITY — Reporting crime and other public safety concerns on Boracay Island has become easier with the launch of BORACAY iREPORT, a browser-based community reporting platform developed by the Malay Municipal Police Station.
The platform gives residents, workers, business owners and tourists a faster and more convenient way to bring public safety concerns to the attention of authorities.
With the new platform, “a safer Boracay is now just a scan away,” Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, Western Visayas police chief, said.
BORACAY iREPORT can be accessed using a mobile phone, tablet or computer by scanning a designated QR code, with no app download or account registration required.
The platform supports 12 languages, making the reporting system more accessible to local communities and foreign visitors.
Users may report concerns involving lost property, theft, scams or fraud, harassment, physical assault, public disturbances, threats, domestic violence, child abuse, bullying, drug-related activities, wanted persons and other public safety issues.
Reports may also include location details through an online map to help authorities identify the area involved and facilitate an appropriate response.
Tuaño said the initiative reflects the police organization’s continuing effort to make its services easier to access, particularly in Boracay, one of the country’s major tourist destinations.
“We want reporting to be simple, accessible, and responsive. If people see something that needs police attention, we want to give them a convenient way to let us know. BORACAY iREPORT is another channel for us to listen, coordinate, and respond appropriately,” Tuaño added.
He encouraged residents, workers, business owners and tourists to use the platform responsibly and provide accurate information that can help authorities act on legitimate concerns.
Tuaño clarified, however, that BORACAY iREPORT is an additional reporting channel and should not replace established emergency hotlines when immediate police assistance is needed.
PRO-6 also urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information online and instead report public safety concerns directly to authorities.
