The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 on Monday joined the entire Philippine National Police in the simultaneous kickoff of the 26th Police Community Relations Month themed “Pulisya at Pamayanan, BARANGAYanihan sa Hamon ng Pandemya at Laban sa Krimen”.
The ceremony coincided with the Flag Raising Ceremony held at the National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City and all Police Regional Offices that joined via Zoom.
PRO-6’s celebration was highlighted by the awarding of the deserving PNP personnel of the region.
The Medalya ng Kagalingan was awarded to Police Major Adolfo Pagharion and Police Master Sergeant Oliver Villanueva of Hamtic Municipal Police Station for arresting five murder suspects on February 22, 2021 at Sitio Bingay, Barangay Linaban, Hamtic, Antique.
Meanwhile, Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisya was awarded to Police Lieutenant Ma Rosela Buenvenida of Batad Municipal Police Station who adopted and replicated the “Bahaynihan” Project.
The beneficiaries of the project were the poorest of the poor affected by the COVId-19 pandemic. Lt. Buenvenida also facilitated the building of a house of a resident affected by typhoon Ursula in Batad.
PRO-6 also presented a certificate of appreciation to Miss Christine Mansinares, Officer-In-Charge of the Department of Tourism-6; and Mr Rafael Jardeleza Jr, Founder of Sabores De Visayas Gives Back, for their invaluable support to PRO6 in providing freshly cooked packed meals to PNP personnel deployed to 10 Quarantine Control Points around Iloilo City during the implementation of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine on June 1 to 15, 2021.
Atty. Joseph Celis, regional director of the National Police Commission-6 was the guest of honor and speaker during the activity.
Director Celis commended the PNP’s BARANGAYnihan project which eased the suffering of persons affected by the pandemic.
“The PNP served its mandate especially in the community relations here in the region; you served your mandate beyond expectation…” Atty Celis said.
The PCR Month celebration is an opportune time to recognize community participation in crime prevention and also serves as a vehicle in forging stronger police-community partnership through the community’s support in peacekeeping and public safety programs of the Philippine National Police.
The month-long celebration will include different activities that will highlight the importance of a solid partnership between the police and the community in the effective maintenance of peace and order and community development.
The Police-Community Relations month is celebrated every July annually together with the National Police Commission as the lead agency.
