BACOLOD CITY — Outstanding police officers and units in Western Visayas were recognized during the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6’s flag-raising and awarding ceremony at Camp Delgado, Iloilo City, on Feb. 2.
Some of the awardees were also contenders in their respective categories during the 1st Philippine National Police (PNP) Day celebration.
Juan Jovian Ingeniero, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director, served as guest of honor and speaker during the ceremony.
Ingeniero said Monday’s event was symbolic, as it coincided with the celebration of the 1st PNP Day—commemorating the establishment of the national police force and honoring the legacy of sacrifice, commitment, and service of police personnel in the region.
“It is a fitting day, therefore, to recognize exemplary individuals and units in the PNP whose performance reflects the highest standards of service, integrity, and professionalism,” he said.
He added that it was also a way to acknowledge and honor stakeholders from partner agencies.

Special citations were also awarded to the Province of Aklan, Iloilo City, the municipality of Dueñas, and K5 New FM Roxas.
For Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, PRO-6 regional director, the ceremony was more than just a recognition of excellence.
“It serves as a reminder of who we are and what we stand for,” she said.
“As we begin the month of February, may we draw inspiration from our oath of service and continue to perform our duties with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the people we are sworn to protect.”
Ligan emphasized that “service should not be measured by rank or recognition, but by impact.”
While applauding the awardees, she also acknowledged those who serve without fanfare.
“To those who quietly serve without applause, often unseen and unheard, know that your dedication matters just as much,” she said.
“Every long hour, every difficult assignment, and every sacrifice you make strengthens this organization and keeps our communities safe.”
She concluded by saying that though these efforts may not always be publicly recognized, they are deeply felt by the people whose lives they protect every day.
