PRO-6 chief to designate Palomo as Iloilo police chief soonest

Colonel Ronaldo Palomo will assume as the chief of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) in no time.

Palomo has already reported to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 headquarters at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City a day after he was officially reassigned to Western Visayas.

Brigadier General Leo Francisco, Western Visayas police chief, said that he will designate Palomo to the IPPO helm once the latter is done with his courtesy call.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. picked Palomo, ending the stint of Colonel Noel Aliño as IPPO officer-in-charge.

Before he was tapped by Defensor, Palomo was assigned to the National Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit at the PNP national headquarters in Camp Crame.

Both Aliño and Palomo are members Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1998.

Palomo, who hails from Passi City but is now living in Guimaras province, was recommended for IPPO top post along with Aliño and Colonel Gervacio Balmaceda Jr., who previously led the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Region 6.

Balmaceda is a member of PNPA Class 1997.

Aliño was chosen as IPPO OIC in October 2022, replacing Colonel Adrian Acollador.

In the midst of Palomo’s eventual appointment, there were reports that Defensor has initially intimated that he wanted other choices apart from Aliño, Palomo, and Balmaceda.

Defensor, however, said he chose Palomo as he is qualified for the top IPPO post.
