PRO-6 chief rules out field commander reshuffle

ILOILO CITY — Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, acting regional director of Police Regional Office 6, said no reshuffle of key police personnel is imminent in Western Visayas.

If personnel are relieved or reassigned, “it’s because there are officers na umaakyat kasi mapo-promote,” Tuaño said Monday, Sept. 7, following his first command visit to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office headquarters at Camp Sumagaysay in Santa Barbara, Iloilo.

Tuaño said an administrative relief could also trigger personnel changes.

“But there is no impending reshuffling, as far as performance is concerned,” he said.

Tuaño had already signaled that approach when he assumed leadership of PRO-6 in May 2026, saying he would start with a clean slate in assessing police commanders.

Tuaño, a former Philippine National Police spokesperson, was designated acting PRO-6 regional director effective May 22, replacing Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, who was reassigned to the PNP Directorate for Operations.

At the time, Tuaño said, “I won’t implement reshuffling of personnel unless the order will come from the National headquarters.”

“Kahit bad shot ka sa previous commander, basta sa akin, back to zero ka,” he added.

Tuaño said he would observe the performance of personnel and make his own assessment.
