Less than a month after taking the helm of the Police Regional Office 6, Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño reiterated that his leadership thrust centers on personnel morale and welfare.
During his command visit to the Iloilo City Police Office on Thursday, June 11, Tuaño emphasized the need to ensure the well-being of police officers before focusing on operational accomplishments and other aspects of police service in Western Visayas.
“Bago tayo magbigay ng maraming directives, sinisiguro muna natin ang morale and welfare ng ating mga tauhan dito sa PRO-6. Inuuna natin tingnan ang kalagayan ng ating personnel dahil mas magagampanan nila nang tama ang kanilang mga tungkulin kapag nasa tamang mindset at tamang kalusugan,” Tuaño said.
PRO-6 oversees police operations in Western Visayas, including Iloilo City, where police visibility, anti-criminality efforts, and personnel readiness remain key concerns.
During his “Talk to Men” session with ICPO personnel, the region’s top police official said he started his tenure on a clean slate.
He said he would treat commanders and unit chiefs as “back to zero” in terms of performance.
Tuaño said commanders and unit chiefs must continuously prove their effectiveness through results-driven leadership and public service.
He also highlighted the importance of financial literacy among personnel, police visibility as a key strategy in maintaining peace and order, and the intensified campaign against wanted persons in communities.
“Ang ultimate dream natin ay gawin ang ating trabaho dahil ito ay nararapat at hindi lamang dahil may mga directives,” he added.
Tuaño was received by ICPO director Col. Wilbert B. Parilla, members of the ICPO command group, staff, and unit commanders.
Parilla said Tuaño’s words of “encouragement and emphasis on personnel morale, welfare, and excellence in service inspire our personnel to remain committed to serving the people of Iloilo City with integrity, professionalism and dedication.”
A command conference was also held, with Tuaño presiding over the meeting.
He was joined by PRO-6 Deputy Regional Director for Operations Col. Arpha Abul Kyr Macalangcom Jr. and members of the PRO-6 regional staff.
