PRO-6 chief, 46 other ranking police officers undergo drug test

Newly-installed Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 chief Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor has ordered all ranking police officers in Western Visayas to undergo a surprise drug test.

Villaflor made the announcement after attending his first Monday flag-raising ceremony as PRO-6 chief.

Among those who were called to undergo the drug test were the three other members of the PRO-6 command group – the deputy regional director for administration (DRDA), the deputy regional director for operations (DRDO), and the chief regional directorial staff.

The order also covered the 10 chiefs of the regional staff divisions, three special staff, and four personal staff.

The most number are the chiefs of the different PNP nation support units (NSUs) at 26.

Villaflor said the conduct of the drug test is in line with his marching order for an aggressive anti-illegal drugs drive.

“Before we could do that, we must first ensure that no policeman is involved in illegal drugs,” he said.

The region’s top cop said he doesn’t mind even if the drug testing is done on a daily basis if only to ensure that all PRO-6 personnel are not into illegal drug use.

It is expected that the result will be known in a few days.
