Premier League officials finally decided to finish the 2019-2020 season as long as they follow the rules imposed by the national government amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
They added that once the coronavirus restrictions will be lifted in Britain, they will move fast and plan the best possible scenario for the season to finish this 2020.
The English league stands to lose an estimated $1.25 billion if no more football will be played for the remainder of the season.
“The league and clubs are considering the first tentative moves forward and will only return to training and playing with government guidance, under expert medical advice and after consultation with players and managers,” the Premier League said.
Among the tentative moves looking to be considered is playing the remaining 92 games closed-doors, and by that scenario, the league won’t be needing to pay a large amount of money to broadcasters.
However, the league’s biggest problem is logistics, with Britain as one of the countries with the highest count of COVID-19 positive patients with a death toll reaching up to 27,500.
