Fifty personnel assigned to the Police Regional Office 6 headquarters in Iloilo City underwent handgun familiarization and precision training at PRO6 firing range on Oct 6, 2020.
According to Police Brigadier Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police force head, the move is part of the program of the Chief, Philippine National Police to further professionalize the police organization by improving the capabilities of every policeman especially their shooting skills.
Pamuspusan stressed that he wants to develop in each police officer the basic skills set of marksmanship.
The training was conducted by the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division (RLDDD) of PRO6.

The training had three phases. First are the Handgun Qualification Familiarization and Precision Tests followed by the PNP Handgun Qualification Marksmanship Training.
After passing the two phases, they could then proceed to the final phase which is the PNP Handgun Classification Marksmanship Training where they will be classified according to their as expert, sharpshooter, master or marksman.
The training started with 30% of PRO-6 strength, another 35% in November and the other 35% in December.
“I am directing all personnel to perform seriously the training for them to develop, increase and sustain the level of confidence and proficiency in the use of issued short firearm,” Pamuspusan said.
The training is simultaneously done in different police units regionwide.
