Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin E. Diokno (right) and former Governor Nestor A. Espenilla Jr.’s wife, Maria Teresita, lead the unveiling rites for the late Governor’s portrait and bust held recently the BSP head office in Manila.
A career central banker, Governor Nesting, as he is fondly called, succumbed to cancer on 23 February 2019.
“Building on the foundations that Governor Espenilla has put in place, the BSP has made great strides in digital transformation and financial inclusion,” said Governor Diokno.
Accompanying Mrs. Espenilla in the ceremony in honor of Governor Nesting are their children (photo above, from left): Nikko Nestor and daughter in-law, Monique: Jacqueline Joyce and son-in law, Ben Joshua Baltazar; and Leonardo Nestor.
Witnessing the rites with them are Monetary Board Members (photo below, from left) Antonio S. Abacan, Jr., Felipe M. Medalla, Anita Linda R. Aquino, Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez, Bruce J. Tolentino and Peter B. Favila.
