Pork products prohibited in PUVs – LTFRB

ALL fresh, frozen, and processed pork products are prohibited on all public utility vehicles (PUVs) if the carrier does not have the required permits, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced recently.

In a statement, the LTFRB, in cooperation with the Bureau of Animal Industry, issued the statement to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).

These pork products include all fresh, frozen, and processed pork products and by-products like sausages, ham, among others.

“All swine commercial farms will be allowed to move via Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs), provided they have presented the documents in designated animal quarantine checkpoints in the disease outbreak areas,” the LTFRB said in a statement.

In the shipment of live animals, those with incomplete shipment documents will be held and given 24 hours to complete the required document, otherwise, it will be ordered to return to origin.

Likewise, the shipment of dead or sick animals with incomplete shipment documents shall be confiscated and disposed of by apprehending officers.

The shipment of semi-cooked and raw meat with incomplete shipment documents will be held and given 24 hours to complete required documents, otherwise will be confiscated and disposed of accordingly.

Likewise, the shipment with falsified and tampered with documents will be confined at the animal quarantine checkpoint. Violators will face a fine of P200,000.
