Pontevedra mechanic arrested with gun, suspected shabu

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested an auto mechanic Wednesday evening, Aug. 12, after he was allegedly found carrying an unlicensed firearm and suspected shabu in Sitio Proper, Barangay Linampongan, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect only as “Jay,” a 30-year-old resident of Barangay Ilawod, Pontevedra.
Authorities classified the suspect as a street-level individual in the illegal drug trade.
The Pontevedra Municipal Police Station said a concerned citizen reported seeing a man carrying a firearm of undetermined caliber while walking in the area.
Responding officers allegedly caught the suspect carrying a gun.
Police recovered a .38-caliber revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
Officers also seized a sachet containing about 3 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of PHP 20,400.
The suspect remained in the custody of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station.
Police were preparing complaints for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
