Pontevedra high-value suspect charged in PHP 1.258 million drug bust

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police filed illegal drug charges Tuesday, Sept. 1, against a 47-year-old man classified as a high-value individual following an intelligence-driven buy-bust operation in Barangay Sibaguan, Roxas City.
Police Capt. Dennis Losbañes, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit team leader, said charges alleging violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed against alias “Toto” before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspect is single and a resident of Barangay Guba, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, which led the operation, said the suspect was arrested early Friday, Aug. 28, after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP 14,000 to a police poseur-buyer.
Losbañes said investigators conducted about a month of surveillance and monitoring before launching the operation.
He said the suspect allegedly sourced his illegal drugs from Muntinlupa City and distributed them in Capiz.
Police recovered 16 additional heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and two plastic packs containing suspected shabu weighing about 185 grams.
Authorities placed the standard drug value of the seized substance at PHP 1.258 million.
The report also cited a prevailing street price of PHP 6,000 per gram, which would place the value of 185 grams at PHP 1.11 million.
Police also recovered the PHP 14,000 buy-bust money, PHP 1,050 in cash, a cellphone, a black coin purse, and several empty sachets.
A red Rusi motorcycle bearing a temporary plate number and without pertinent documents was also seized.
The inventory of the seized items was witnessed by former Barangay Kagawad Gary D. Blancaflor of Sitio Pangaywan, Barangay Tacas, Pontevedra.
