BACOLOD CITY – A candidate for councilor in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental died after his tricycle collided with a truck in Hacienda Carmenchita, Barangay Don Salvador Benedicto, late Tuesday night.
The victim was identified as John Espinosa, 54, a resident of Barangay Antipolo.
According to police, Espinosa was heading home from the town proper when he reportedly veered into the truck’s lane.
He sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at a hospital.
The truck was driven by a 41-year-old resident of La Carlota City.
Police said they are awaiting the decision of Espinosa’s family regarding possible charges.
