Police to file murder charges in Janiuay double killing

ILOILO CITY — Police are preparing to file two counts of murder against two suspects in the killing of two business partners in Janiuay, Iloilo, on Sunday.
Capt. Randy Lambungan, Janiuay police chief, said investigators are still collating the necessary documents for the filing of charges.
Lambungan said an autopsy had yet to be conducted on alias Juneray as of Monday morning.
He added that police have identified the two suspects in the killing of Juneray, a driver from Barangay Balucot, Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur, who was temporarily residing in Barangay Tambal, Janiuay, and Aillen, a businesswoman from Tambal.
One of the suspects was earlier identified as alias Jerome, a resident of Barangay Subog, Maasin, Iloilo, and Aillen’s former live-in partner.
“The other one was Jerome’s best friend. He was the one who left their getaway vehicle at Barangay San Vicente, Leganes, Iloilo early morning of Wednesday,” Lambungan said.
Juneray and Aillen were shot around 4 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Tambal.
Reports said Juneray was in front of their roadside store when a black Toyota Avanza pulled over and an assailant shot him several times.
A passenger then got out of the vehicle and went to Aillen’s poultry farm behind the store.
The gunman also shot Aillen.
The two victims were believed to have died at the scene but were still taken to Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay.
Police initially considered a crime of passion as a possible motive.
Reports, however, indicated that Aillen and Jerome had been in conflict over properties they acquired while they were together.
The former couple owned a property in Lambunao, Iloilo.
Although Aillen reportedly bought the property, it was registered in Jerome’s name.
They reached a settlement over the property last March.
Aillen also owned a poultry business, from which Jerome allegedly wanted a share.
The two reportedly argued over the poultry business on the morning of the shooting.
