BACOLOD City – A total of 26 policemen were deployed as beat patrollers in various strategic areas under the jurisdiction of Police Station 1 here.
Police Major Jovil Sedel, station commander, said on Tuesday, that the deployment of these policemen will boost the anti-criminality campaign of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
These policemen are those who are undergoing Field Training Program (FTP) and are due to undergo for Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC).
Sedel said the police beat patrollers were tasked to man the streets to prevent theft incidents, to aid pedestrians, and to reprimand minors who allegedly sniff solvent.
Sedel said they are deployed at the Downtown area, Luzuriaga-Gatuslao streets, Ballesteros Street, and San Sebastian-Araneta Streets.
Two policemen are assigned in every strategic area, he added.
Following the increased presence of policemen in the streets, Sedel said that theft incidents reduced since January this year compared in the previous years, especially in the downtown area, where there is an influx of people every day.
He said they are maximizing their deployment to ensure the safety of the public and to avoid untoward incidents.
Aside from the police presence, Sedel said that they are also conducting regular and random visibility patrol, as part of their crime prevention measures.
