Police seize PHP 1.73 million in Capiz drugs

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Some PHP 1,734,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs were seized from a high-value individual and her live-in partner Saturday afternoon, June 20, in Barangay Poblacion, President Roxas, Capiz.
Police identified the suspects as Lyka Eslabon, 28, of Elizalde Street, Barangay Poblacion, President Roxas, and her live-in partner, Ferdinand Diaz, 55, also of the same village.
The recovered suspected illegal drugs weighed 255 grams and were seized through a search warrant issued by a Regional Trial Court judge.
Police said the operation was carried out after a test buy conducted by a police poseur-buyer for PHP 17,000.
Recovered from the suspects were 13 sachets of suspected shabu, one improvised tooter tube pipe, one improvised aluminum tooter, one Oppo Android cellphone, a sling bag, one digital weighing scale, one katana with scabbard, two disposable lighters, and several non-drug items.
The operation was conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, Regional Intelligence Division, Capiz Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and President Roxas Municipal Police Station.
Also present during the operation were Barangay Kagawad Maribel Bengaura of Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra, and media personnel from RMM DYVR-Roxas.
The seized items were submitted for laboratory examination, while the two suspects will undergo drug testing.
The suspects are in the custody of the President Roxas Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against them.
