BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region seized PHP 1.7 million worth of suspected shabu from June 25 to 28 in this city and Negros Oriental, resulting in the arrest of three people.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit accounted for the biggest haul, confiscating PHP 1.5 million worth of suspected shabu in two buy-bust operations here.
CDEU operatives conducted the latest operation in Barangay 2 on Sunday, arresting Ren, 29, and recovering 105 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 714,000.
A PRO-NIR report said Ren was an alleged pusher and keeper of illegal drugs.
Three days earlier, the CDEU carried out a similar operation against Jords, 36, in Barangay 19 on Thursday, confiscating 120 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 816,000.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU team leader, said Jords was arrested for a drug offense in May 2023 and released in October 2025, but reportedly continued engaging in the illegal drug trade based on intelligence monitoring.
Police tagged both suspects as high-value individuals.
In Negros Oriental, Ru, 37, was arrested with 25 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 170,000 in Barangay 6, Tanjay City, on Friday.
Police classified Ru as a street-level individual.
Police said his arrest for a drug offense stemmed from a response to an alleged trespassing incident at a residence.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, acting PRO-NIR regional director, stressed the importance of every police response as an opportunity to protect the public and uphold the law.
“What began as a report of trespassing resulted in the removal of illegal drugs from our streets,” he said.
Cardiño vowed to be relentless in pursuing those who profit from illegal drugs.
The regional office said it remains committed to dismantling drug networks and protecting communities through sustained law enforcement operations.
Cardiño urged the public to support the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign by reporting suspicious and unlawful activities through the SAFE NIR Dial 911 Program.
SAFE, which stands for Seen, Appreciated, Felt, and Extraordinary, aims to strengthen emergency response capabilities across the region.
He commended the responding personnel for their prompt action and emphasized the importance of maintaining vigilance in every police response.
In a separate operation, two people were also arrested in Barangay Sta. Teresa, Manapla, Negros Occidental, on June 22, leading to the recovery of 35 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 238,000.
The suspects were identified as Raprap, 30, and Rey, 18, both residents of the village.
Police said the suspects were subjects of a firearms raid that led to the confiscation of a .38-caliber revolver, four rounds of ammunition, and a homemade shotgun loaded with one round of ammunition.
The search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 40 in Silay City on June 15, 2026.
Shabu is the local term for methamphetamine hydrochloride, which is classified as a dangerous drug under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
