Police seize PHP 1.3M shabu in Iloilo

Two high-value drug personalities were arrested in separate anti-narcotics operations here within four hours.
Police identified the suspects only as aliases Jolan, 30, and Charlie, 38, both residents of Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz district.
Jolan was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9:20 p.m. May 11 at Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit recovered six plastic sachets and three knot-tied plastic bags of suspected shabu and other non-drug items.
Capt. Roque Gimeno III, ICPO-CDEU chief, said the seized shabu weighed around 140 grams and had a standard drug price of PHP 952,000.
Almost four hours later, ICPO-CDEU operatives and members of the Iloilo City Police Station collared Charlie at Barangay Baldoza, La Paz district.
Charlie, a tricycle driver, yielded seven sachets of suspected shabu weighing 55 grams.
Gimeno said the confiscated shabu was valued at PHP 374,000.
The arrested suspects are under the custody of Iloilo City Police Station 2 for the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
