Police said they rescued five children after two were allegedly sexually abused by their father in Janiuay, Iloilo.
Capt. Marlon Perez, Janiuay police chief, said the children’s mother sought help to have them removed from the custody of her husband.
Perez said the mother has worked abroad for four years, leaving the children — a 16-year-old boy and four daughters ages 15, 12, 9 and 6 — in their father’s care.
Members of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station, with personnel from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, brought the children to their mother’s relatives in Dumarao, Capiz.
Perez said the couple’s son allegedly told the mother about the abuse.
Perez said the mother asked her 15-year-old daughter, who confirmed she was molested by her father.
Perez said the first incident allegedly happened when the girl was 9 in Dumarao.
Perez said police are confirming whether the 12-year-old girl was also raped.
Police said the two younger children reportedly denied being abused.
Perez said the father admitted raping his daughter but claimed it happened while he was under the influence of alcohol.
Perez said police are continuing the investigation and will file appropriate charges against the suspect.
